Meet your teacher: Kasey Yalch
Welcome to "A Year With Yalch"! Get to know the person behind the lessons – my journey into teaching, what drives my passion, and how I create a welcoming and engaging classroom environment for every student.

My journey to the classroom
Hello! My name is Kasey Yalch, and I am thrilled to be starting my first year as an English teacher (9th and 10th grade) at Jay High School. I'm not entirely new to JHS, as I've spent the past two years working here as a push-in paraprofessional. This experience has given me the wonderful opportunity to get to know many of our students already and understand how I can best support them. I graduated from Grand Canyon University in 2026, and I’m incredibly excited to embark on this new journey with all of you.

My inspiration: family and mentors
What truly inspired me to become a teacher are my own children – they’re the ones who taught me patience, after all! Beyond my family, I had a few specific English teachers during my school years who left a lasting impact. They not only prepared me academically but also made their classes engaging, always taking the time to understand my interests and incorporate them into our learning. I aim to bring that same dedication to my classroom, getting to know each of my students, making learning fun, and exploring a variety of styles to ensure everyone can succeed.

A dynamic and inclusive classroom
My teaching approach balances the required material with creative, fun, and varied ways to learn and retain it. I believe every student learns and thinks differently, sometimes at different levels, so my classroom will be a place where those individual needs are not just recognized but celebrated. I am committed to making sure every student feels valued, receives the support they need, and has an equal chance at success. Communication and trust are paramount in my classroom, fostering an environment where growth, confidence, and success can flourish for every student.
"My ultimate goal is for every student to gain a sense of belonging in my classroom, fostering communication and trust to aid them on their path to confidence and success."

Beyond the bell: my life outside of school
When I'm not in the classroom, I love being outdoors in all forms! You can often find me hunting and fishing with my husband, heading to the creek with our kids, or searching for shells at the beach. Spring brings the joy of gardening – both flowers and a large vegetable garden. Every now and then, I enjoy catching a concert. Being on the boat, camping, and traveling are also big passions of mine, especially exploring all things Alabama, Tennessee, Montana, and Idaho. During the school week, my evenings are usually spent at the football stadium, basketball gym, or baseball field, cheering on my kids in their various sports. I also love to read and write, though finding time for those has been quite a challenge lately!
